چکیده
Putting Research Into Practice Page 10 The National Center for Asphalt Technology (NCAT) has just completed a National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) Project: NCHRP 9-11, “Segregation in Hot Mix Asphalt Pavements.” Dr. Mary Stroup-Gardiner was the principal investigator on this project. Segregation has historically been defined to mean localized areas of coarse materials in some areas and fine materials in others in the finished mat. Coarse aggregate-rich regions typically have high air voids and low asphalt contents which can accelerate NCAT COMPLETES A NATIONAL STUDY ON SEGREGATION IN HMA PAVEMENTS

The Alabama Department of Transportation and the National Center for Asphalt Technology (NCAT) are planning to construct and operate an oval test track (accelerated pavement loading facility) to evaluate the performance of various hot mix asphalt (HMA) test pavements. Auburn University has purchased 310 acres of land approximately 15 minutes from the university for the test track. Construction ...

The National Center for Asphalt Technology (NCAT) completed a roundrobin study in March to determine the accuracy and precision of the NCAT asphalt content tester. The Center has conducted research since 1990 to develop this test method for determining asphalt content of hot mix asphalt (HMA) mixtures by ignition (See the fall, 1994, issue of Asphalt Technology News). In the ignition method, a ...

This study explored the feasibility of lignin based biofuel co-product (BCP) for subgrade soil stabilization, and more specifically, its impact on Hot-Mix Asphalt (HMA) pavement performance using the Mechanistic-Empirical Pavement Design Guide (MEPDG). The HMA pavement systems with BCP stabilized subgrade under different traffic and climate conditions were modeled using mechanistic based damage...
